What is the SEA Charitable Foundation?
SEA Charitable Foundation is a NGO organisation (Non Governmental Organisation) that helps students apply for scholarships and bursaries for entry to international school. We work closely with referrals from NGOs.
What criteria does SEA Charitable Foundation look for?
• Strong academics (over the last 2 academic years)
• Chinese is NOT important
• Extra curricular activities (Dance, music, drama, sport)
• Awards awarded by school, outside school bodies
What is the difference between scholarship and bursary?
Scholarship:
• Financial Award for Excellence
Bursary:
• Discretionary
• Means Tested
• Based on financial needs
When are the application deadlines?
• Most schools open their applications from August (1-2 years before entry)
• Some schools have strict deadlines i.e. ESF Central Allocation from 1-30 Sept, Harrow deadline 1 November every year *Subject to change.
• Most results are announced by February of the year before the student starts school, however, some schools can notify as late as April.
Are the placements guaranteed?
• NO Guarantees
• If your child is in Kellett Outreach NO guarantee of entry to Kellett
• Subject to your child passing the school assessment
• Sometimes schools may ask to pay disbursement including capital levy, school bus, lunch fee, school camp, extra curricular activities etc.
